Blogging, ADHD, life, loss, and other such distractions...

Having recently updated my website, I realised I had completely disregarded my blog since before I completed my residency at AirSpace in early 2023... it is now September of 2024. There is a draft lurking in the ether about my solo show which was the final part of my AirSpace residency which was wonderful, fulfilling and challenging in equal measure, I will endeavour to finish it soon...ish.

Since completing my residency, life has been hectic, my ADHD has been wild, and I've had some sad and unusual happenings in my personal life, but I'm going to post a quick recap of arty events here and see if I can start blogging (semi-regularly at least) again...

- I moved out of my studio at AirSpace at the end of the residency and immediately started looking for studio spaces...most of which I could not afford.

- I moved into an ex-charity shop in Longton with a friend and fellow creative (Hojo Hattery - hat maker extraordinaire)

- We gave said-ex-charity shop a facelift and had an open day with live performances including circus, spoken word, and music, we also had an art exhibition, workshops, refreshments, and an all round good time!

- We have since facilitated multiple workshops and crafting sessions in the space, one-on-one mentoring, creative political action, swap shops, rehearsals, meetings, hat fittings and so on...

- I bought a house! With my partner at the end of 2023... as a self employed artist, clown and weirdo this was pretty stressful but very exciting.

- I made very little art in this time but was performing and workshopping regularly.

- In the midst of all this in December 2023 I visited the Marina Abramovic exhibition in London and LOVED it but generally beat myself up about my lack of making/sketching/developing work etc...

- Spring/Summer 2024 I was fully moved in, settled, working a comfortable amount, and ready to start getting into a better and more balanced creative routine that would focus a little more on my art practice and not just on the things that pay my bills (circus/cabaret)...

- Multiple exhibitions, experiences, the Staffs Uni degree show, and especially Glastonbury 2024 inspired me and I applied to the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition at Burslem School of Art

- I was successful and was also invited to be on the panel for an artist's talk hosted by the Potteries Lunar Society

- I have since started making/developing work again, finished some poor unfinished zines, collaged whilst I was at it and planned some arty events for the near future ... Follow my instagram to see more... @evedearbhailart
